Thank you again for a wonderful winter project. It adds another dimension when you are
making a poem that will be online and be read by other people. We have fun looking at
other people's poems about books that we have read. I can't think of anything, at this
point, that would improve the project. I think, having participated in the past, that the
familiarity makes the project even better because of the experience. I like looking at
different responses to the same book... Ada Swanson North Syracuse, NY

I thought this project was a great experience. Especially for those doing it as a first
internet project. It was not overwhelming, but very effective and educational. I also
enjoy using the site as a resource with other classes. Thanks again for a great project.
Looking forward to joining others in the future with you. Take Care, Nicole Taormina

I loved the project and my students loved seeing their poem on the web.
I hope to participate again! ~ Cynthia Wright

The children and I LOVED this project! They became so enthralled with snowflake designs
after reading Snowflake Bentley that they're now wanting to categorize the snowflakes
designs they made (online at Make-a-Flake) as "plates" or "stellar" -
just as scientists do!
The resources that are made available to participants with Mrs. McGowan's projects are so
extensive, there is always something new to help people stretch themselves. For me, it was
the 5W's poem. It was perfect for our book choice and a wonderful poetry form to add to
our repertoire. It also allowed me to utilize a resource in our writing program (5 pointed
star graphic organizer) and to discover some fabulous graphic organizers at
enchantedlearning.com - the learning just goes on and on!
It's also great to see all the other poems. I often return to them when I'm reading a
particular piece of literature with a winter theme and share them with my classes.
Thank you ... Lanise Jacoby Grade 2 Peirce School Arlington,

Hi Marci, I loved the project, as usual. It forced me to begin a poetry unit. We
basically just read the poems from the other classes and noted the
different kinds of poetry. Thanks again... Nancy Golubic

Hello Marci! I wish that I had done more with the project, to be honest. My excuse
is that I am a first year teacher. I am anxious to "do it all," and learning
that it can't all be done.
My students enjoyed many winter stories, some inspired by the books other classrooms
chose. As we celebrate the 'end of winter' in the next two weeks I plan to link the
students to your site and enjoy some of the poems other classes wrote.
**I would love to have the technology to bring sites up and display it for all on a large
screen!!**
I would enjoy learning how other teachers, more experienced than I, brought the project
into their classrooms. I hope to get better at "doing it all" with a little help
from my friends ... Tammy Singleton

Hi Marci,
My class loved learning to write the winter poems. I felt that this project came at just
the right time for us. Writing the poems was a pleasant change from our regular writing
workshop; the children were ready to think of writing in a different way. They were
excited to be able to see their poems online (all are on our class site). We had a panel
of three judges from the school pick the student poem that was sent to your site. Everyone
was excited about this!
Thank you for making it so easy to send our pics and poems to you. I have
really appreciated your internet projects. ~ Dolores Foltz

I thought this project was wonderful! An easy way to do an Internet project and have the
kids read and write poetry. Fabulous and I hope you do it again next year! ~ Joan O'Neill
