Read A Winter Book ... Write A
Winter Poem
A Collaborative Literacy
Project for Primary Students
January 15: Project
registration is now closed.
**************************************************
Classes will read or
listen to the reading of a winter book. As a response to the reading, students will write
a class poem about the book's theme or about a character in the book. Any poetry form may
be used.
* This is a good "first" Internet
project.
* There is no expense involved.
* Poetry resource links and a book list are
available.
To register for project, send
teacher's name, grade, school name, town, state/province, country to Marci McGowan. You will be sent email confirmation of your
registration. Your class name will be posted when student work is received.
One
poem from each registered class will be submitted by February 15, 2003 via email to be posted on the project page. Send class poem to Marci McGowan
Extensions: Hopefully this project will encourage you
to provide additional literacy response activities for your students. Send a brief
description of the activities with your class poem. If you create a webpage, a
link will be made from this project to your page.
The project page of class poems will be available for student reading and for teachers to
use as enrichment or supplemental guided reading material.
