Read A Winter Book ... Write A Winter Poem

A Collaborative Literacy Project for Primary Students
January 15:  Project registration is now closed.

Classes will read or listen to the reading of a winter book. As a response to the reading, students will write a class poem about the book's theme or about a character in the book. Any poetry form may be used.

* This is a good "first" Internet project.

* There is no expense involved.

* Poetry resource links and a book list are available.

rosie_snowflake.jpg (1595 bytes) To register for project, send teacher's name, grade, school name, town, state/province, country to Marci McGowan.  You will be sent email confirmation of your registration.   Your class name will be posted when student work is received.

rosie_snowflake.jpg (1595 bytes)One poem from each registered class will be submitted by February 15, 2003 via email to be posted on the project page.  Send class poem to Marci McGowan

rosie_snowflake.jpg (1595 bytes)Extensions: Hopefully this project will encourage you to provide additional literacy response activities for your students.  Send a brief description of the activities with your class poem.  If you create a webpage,  a link will be made from this project to your page.

The project page of class poems will be available for student reading and for teachers to use as enrichment or supplemental guided reading material.

Project registration closed: January 15, 2003
Last day to accept poems: February 15, 2003

This project can be aligned with language arts, social studies, science, and technology standards.
