Sedalia Facts

Sedalia, in Pettis County, is close to the geographical and population center of Missouri. The city of about 25,000 people is at the busy junction of US Highways  50 & 65, south of Interstate 70. Municipal Airport has 5,000 and 3,600 ft runways, and Amtrak and Piggyback rail freight serve the city. Kansas City is 90 miles west, St Louis 190 miles east. The state capitol building at Jefferson City is just 61 miles east.

The Important Thing About Sedalia Is...

image 1.jpg (23258 bytes)  This project was a part of an online assignment for students to research the town in which they resided in and write a paragraph about the item in which they felt was most important.  Click here to view student work.

We then composed a class poem together about Sedalia and that poem is below.  We used The Important Book written by Margaret Wise Brown, as the format for the poem.

~ My Town is Important ~

The Important Thing About Sedalia, Missouri is the nice people and it is our hometown.

The Missouri State Fair is located here.  There are good schools in Sedalia like Skyline Elementary and Smith-Cotton High School.  There are also some good historic sites to see like the Katy Depot, the Main Street Water Tower, Downtown Sedalia, Bothwell Lodge, and the Pettis County Courthouse.

BUT the most important thing about Sedalia, Missouri is the nice people and it is our hometown.
