~ Boardman, Ohio ~

Before we began this project, we read The Important Book by Margaret Wise Brown. Then we each wrote our own important poem about anything we wanted to. We wrote and illustrated our poems in KidPix. Then we put our important poems into a slideshow.

You can see our poems on our class webpage.

~ Boardman, Ohio ~

Boardman is in Mahoning County in the state of Ohio. We are just south of Youngstown, Ohio. We are about an hour and a half drive from Cleveland, Ohio, and about an hour drive from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Boardman is not a city. It is the largest township in Ohio. We do not have a mayor. We have three township trustees. About 42,000 people live in Boardman.

Here are some of the places you will find in Boardman.

~ Our Class Poem About Boardman ~

The important thing about Boardman is that it is "a nice place to call home."

Boardman was founded in 1798 by Elijah Boardman.

Boardman has a beautiful park called Boardman Park.

KidsTown is a playground in the park.

The people of Boardman built KidsTown.

Boardman has 7 fantastic schools.

We are the Boardman Spartans.

We have award-winning bands and orchestras.

Boardman has a wonderful baseball complex called the Fields of Dreams.

We have lots of places to play football, baseball, and soccer.

Boardman has Chuck E. Cheese, Sports World, the Skate Connection, the Ice Zone, and two bowling alleys.

Boardman has a big new YMCA.

We have lots of stores and restaurants.

We have a great public library.

But the important thing about Boardman is that it is "a nice place to call home."
