Bellamy sign1.jpg (29974 bytes)Mount Morris is a small rural town in the Genesee Valley of Western New York State. According to the 2000 census, the population was 4,567.

This is the birthplace of Francis Bellamy, the author of the Pledge of Allegiance.

Next door to us is Letchworth State Park, called the “Grand Canyon of the East” and the largest concrete dam east of the Mississippi River which holds back the flood waters of the Genesee River during times of heavy snow melt and rain.

Here is a shared writing poem about our town:

~ Our Town Is Important ~

The important thing about Mt. Morris is that it is safe.

This is the birthplace of Francis Bellamy, author of the Pledge of Allegiance.

We have Letchworth State Park where we can go for picnics.

We have a dam that holds back water.

We have a large river called the Genesee River.

We have a great Veteran’s Memorial and a Greenway.

We have a great school.

But the important thing about Mt. Morris is that it is safe.
