Our Town, Owensboro, Kentucky ~

The population is 54,067 according to the 2000 census. Owensboro is the 3rd largest city in Kentucky. Owensboro lies on the north bank of the Ohio River bordering Indiana.
It is a small urban community.
Once you're out of the center of the northern section of Owensboro (which is the business district), it becomes increasingly suburban, then rural with farms in the county.
There are many small rural farming communities in Daviess County that surround Owensboro.

Below is a class poem we created. My students also created a class book called Our Important Book which can be viewed on our classroom website.

~ Owensboro Is Important ~

The Important thing about our community is that it is safe to ride bikes.

We have many restaurants to eat at.

We have neighborhoods with lots of friends.

Our community offers a lot of summer camps for kids.

But the Important thing about our community is that it is safe to ride bikes.
