~ Port Jefferson Station ~

Our community is on Long Island, New York. It was a farming community until the 1950’s when developers greatly built up the area with many homes. The majority of shops, businesses and restaurants are along Nesconset Highway and Route 112.

The area was first known as Comsewogue, an Indian term meaning a place where several paths come together. The name was changed to Port Jefferson Station when the Long Island Railroad established a station on the outskirts of Port Jefferson, a neighboring town to the north by Long Island Sound.

We hope you enjoy our poems, illustrations and photographs about places in our community.
