~  My Town Is Important 2005-2006 ~

Mrs. Sandy Hammock's 2nd Grade
Gunter Elementary School
Gunter, Texas

Our Community

The Gunter town website is http://www.guntertexas.com. The official census population number is 1250, but Gunter has grown very much since it was taken.  Gunter is a rural community that is growing fast because people are moving here to get away from the city life.

Our Project

We read The Important Book by Margaret Wise Brown.  Our first writing was "The Important Thing about Nathaniel" (student). We then read interesting information about Gunter and wrote our class poem, "The Important Thing about Gunter".

THE IMPORTANT THING ABOUT GUNTER

The important thing about Gunter is that
the schools are exemplary.

The people are very nice and caring.
The football teams, baseball teams,
basketball teams, softball teams, cross
country teams, track teams,
power-lifting teams and cheerleaders are
all great.  The school has a great Robotics
program.  The school vocal program is
outstanding.  The town is small and the
countryside is pretty. The town is rapidly growing.

But, the important thing about Gunter is that
the schools are exemplary!
