The children and I read many of the spring books listed.  We brainstormed a long list of things that happen during each of the four seasons.

Next they were asked to use Kid Pix to make a spring picture. They could use any of the tools they needed but had to use the line and   paint pail tools. They saved their pictures and printed them.

They dictated information about their picture to the teacher. You can read what they said on

Lastly, as a whole group we filled in a Spring Interactive Chart. Each line of the chart was debated and voted upon by the class.   

We worked long minutes building this poem. My suggestions were considered but in most cases rejected.

Spring Interactive Chart

________________happen when it's Summer
________________happen when it's Fall.
________________happen when it's Winter
But ____________________    

Here's our class poem:


Swimming in the ocean happens when it's Summer
Hiding in the leaves happens when it's Fall.
Sliding on ice happens when it's Winter
Birds and flowers come back.
That's what happens when it's Spring.
