EARTH DAY

Resources for the Classroom

'Welcome to My World' is the  song you may be hearing.   How wonderful it will be if generations to come can also say 'welcome'.  As parents and teachers, we know how important it is to preserve the environment and conserve our world resources for those that follow us.  Our challenge is to put what we know into action and to teach the children in our care!

This website offers a variety of resources toward this goal.  It is just a start.  I'll be updating all through March and April as I find more to share.  Please send your favorites for me to include.

EARTH DAY POEM
by Jane Yolen

I am the Earth
And the Earth is me.
Each blade of grass,
Each honey tree,
Each bit of mud,
And stick and stone
Is blood and muscle,
Skin and bone.
And just as I
Need every bit
Of me to make
My body fit,
So Earth needs
Grass and stone and tree
And things that grow here
Naturally.
That's why we
Celebrate this day.
That's why across
The world we say:
As long as life,
As dear, as free,
I am the Earth
And the Earth is me.
