| Narrator 1: | Mrs. Schmidt's First Grade Class and our class wrote an Easter story together. Every other day we added parts to the story. Since Mrs. Schmidt is in Willingboro, New Jersey, we sent our chapters across the Internet. On the webpage, Mrs. Schmidt's parts are in blue and our parts are in purple. |
| Narrator 2: | When the story was
completed, our class used it as a Readers Theatre presentation for our 4th grade buddies
in Mrs. Cavallaro's class. Now, here's the story: The Easter Bunny's Vacation |
| Reader 1: | Once upon a time, the Easter Bunny decided to take his vacation before Easter instead of after. He sailed to the Bahamas. On the fourth night, a big storm came and the boat crashed! |
| Reader 2: | The Easter Bunny was left on a deserted island all alone. He was cold and wet. He found some wood to make a fire and keep warm. He wondered how he would get back home in time for Easter! |
| Reader 3: | He had several good ideas. His first thought was to find a stick so he could write,"HELP ME!" While he was searching for a stick he found a bottle. Maybe he could put a message in the bottle. |
| Reader 4: | The Easter Bunny was still thinking when a big blue whale swam by. "Hi Rabbit, I'm Willie the Whale. You look sad." |
| Reader 5: | The Easter Bunny asked Willie the Whale for a ride to the other side of the island. He wanted to look for food. He was feeling hungry for chocolate eggs, jelly beans, and carrots. |
| Reader 6: | Willie was happy to help and the rabbit climbed on his back. When they got to the other side of the island, there was a surprise waiting for them! |
| Reader 7: | The first thing the Easter Bunny saw was a big tree loaded with different kinds of candy. He walked around and he soon found a vine filled with orange carrots. |
| Reader 1: | He ate it all! Hopping around, the Easter Bunny found a boat, but the boat had a hole in it. |
| Reader 2: | The bunny used cork from a tree to fill up the hole in the boat. He used jelly beans for the cracks and covered it all up with leaves. |
| Reader 3: | He sailed off to look for home. He felt nervous but he thought he might get home this way. Just then, he saw a shark looking at him! |
| Reader 4: | The Easter Bunny offered the shark some candy. Just as the shark was eating the candy the Easter Bunny looked around wondering where Willie was. The bunny knew if anyone could help, it would be Willie! |
| Reader 5: | Suddenly a huge tail fluke came up behind the shark. It slapped down and the shark was gone. Hurrah for Willie! |
| Reader 6: | The Easter Bunny was so happy to see the friendly whale! Willie pushed the boat north for a whole day. Then they saw land in the distance. It could be Florida or ... |
| Reader 7: | "It's New Jersey!" shouted the Easter Bunny. Willie pushed faster. Soon they were on land. |
| Narrator 1: | The Easter Bunny said good-bye and thank you to Willie. Then he hopped home to get his baskets ready. |
| Narrator 2: | Because of his adventures, the Easter Bunny never took his vacation before Easter again! |
