Our favorite place is Spring Lake Beach!

H.W. Mountz School is within walking distance to the ocean and the students have had many fun times there.

We read Luka's Quilt by Georgia Guback, Selina and the Bear Paw Quilt by Barbara Smucker, The Patchwork Quilt by Valerie Flournoy, and The Quilt Story by Tony Johnston and Tomie de Paola. We truly enjoyed working on this project.

Surfing Good

Surfing is good and
You can surf very good.

I like your surf board
splashing in the water.

Feeling like you’re flying
up to the sun
Way up high in the sky
Having lots of fun.

By A.C.

At the Beach

Surfing in the ocean is lots of fun.
Finding shells in different shapes,
running bases on the sand when we’re done.

Fishing on the pier
lots of swimmers near.

People sailing boats
And not wearing any coats.

At night I go home to sleep.
Wake up in the morning , go back to the beach
and swim out deep.

By B.S.

My Mom is Watching Me in the Sea

I swim in the sea
While my mom is watching me.
The jellyfish are swimming in the sea.
I hope that they don’t sting me.

By K.I.

Playing at the Beach

I play at the beach,
with my friends.
We play until,
the day ends.

We play in the sand
We play in the ocean
We build sand castles
We put on lotion.

We get some water
and put it in the moat.
Now we can
sail our boat..

The day is over
and we had lots of fun.
Now it’s time
to say bye to everyone.

By A. B.

The Ocean

I like the ocean
I like it too.
I like to swim my way through.

I like to play
Everyday
With a friend on my way.

I like my friend to be
Right beside me
While I swim in the sea.

I am really sad I say
Because it’s the end of my day
And I cannot stay.

By C.N.

Beach, Beach ,Beach

The beach is a place
I can hear the crashing waves.
I can throw a Frisbee.
I like to build sand castles.
I see the feet of people in the ocean.

By R. R.

At The Beach

At the beach there’s not even a cloud.
At the beach I get lost in the crowd.

At the beach the jetty is round.
At the beach everyone makes a sound.

At the beach we see a shark.
At the beach it’s getting dark.

By M.M.

Dolphins At Big Sea Day

Dolphins at Big Sea Day
They always have it their way
They jump around
And they touch the grounds
They go for dips,
And do some flips.

Dolphins at Big Sea Day,
They really have a ball
And if you try to ride them
You might fall.

By H.W.

If You Go to the Beach to Have Some Fun

If you go to the beach
to have some fun
You’ll see jellyfish and dolphins
and have some fun.

In the ocean
you will find
Many things you can think
Of in your mind.

You may even see
your friends one day.
Especially if
It’s Big Sea Day.

By V. F.

Big Sea Day

Running bases, playing man hunt
Making bonfires and roasting marshmallows.

Big Sea Day is a real good time.
Watching dolphins and surfers too.

Buying things from the shack,
Water football, it’s the thing.

Making sand castles by the ocean,
Fishing for fluke, card playing too.

You should go to the beach.
It’s the best summer day.
Ba boom, ba boom, ba boom, boo.

By T.B.

Spring Lake Beach

I see the sand
I see the sea
My sister, brother and I make three.

I see some crabs
I see some shells
The food shack rings its bells.

I see some pails
I see star fish
Now I only wish

I could see a dolphin
Having fun
Playing in the sun.

By C.H.

At the Beach

I think the beach is fine
While the sun will shine.

I hear the babies cry
While the kids swim and dive.

I see a lady tanning by,
While the sunshine glitters in my eye.

By A.B.

Jellyfish at the Beach

I play with jellyfish all day in the sun.
They’re all slimy
Each and every one.

By J.B.

I Play at the Beach

I like to build sand castles
I like to play.
I run all day.
I play with shells.
I play with Frisbees
I play all day.

By C.M.

The Beach

Playing in the ocean with all my friends.
Playing in the sand with my dog.

Finding shells in the ocean.
Playing man hunt at night.

By H.S.

The Crab

This is a crab
That can’t find a shell
One was too tiny
And one just fell.

One was too big
One was too small.
One was too short
And one was too tall.

One was too empty
One started to bend
One was too dark
And that was the end.

By S. C.

Fishing at the Beach

I like fishing
I do it once a month
If we catch one for dinner
We’ll go munch, munch, munch.

Then the next time that we go
I hope it does not snow.

We will try to catch
another one
If we don’t
I’ll still have fun.

By A. I.

By the Beach

I like the beach
I like it so
I like to splash
I like to go.

I make sand castles
I like to float.
I have some fun,
watching the boats.

I like to surf
I like to play
I like the beach
That’s all I can say.

By E.H.

The Blue Sea

The ocean was blue.
The sky was red.
The sand was yellow.
The umbrella was bright green.
Then they saw a rainbow .

By T. C.

One Day at the Beach

I see the surfers in the ocean
I see the sand castles.

I see a puppy playing running bases,
and I see shells too.

The sharks are going to eat you
and I see me playing with dolphins.

By A.T.

A Big Day

I like the beach
while I'm eating a peach

I'm .sitting in my chair
while eating a pear

There's also a pool
to help me stay cool

I'm having fun
tanning in the sun.

By N.J.

Splash at the Beach

At the beach I splash and splash
In the water I dash and dash
In the sun or in the rain,
No matter what I play and play

By J.B.

The Clams

The clams like the sand.
The sand likes the clams.
I like the sand.
And so does Sam.

By T.W.
