On Christmas Eve my Mom, sister, and I put cookies and a carrot on the table.  We listen to music and put a train track under the tree.  We always put an angel on our tree and a star on our roof.

My Christmas tradition is to eat a fish dinner.  I decorate our tree with my sister and brother.  I wake my brother up and he wakes up my Mom and Dad.  My sister gets up at 7:00.  Then we open our presents, first my brother, then me, then my sister, then her husband, then my mom and dad.  It's a great day!

On Christmas Eve we go to my grandma's and grandpa's house to open presents.  Then my Nana comes to my house.  When we wake up, we stay at the top of the stairs.  My Dad always says, "There's no presents!"  On Christmas night we go to my Nana's house.

On Christmas Eve we all go to see the tree in town.  Then we go back to our house.   We decorate the tree and put out reindeer food and water.  Then we go to bed.   When it's Christmas, I'm always the first one up.  Then we open up the presents.  It's the best day of the year!

Every year we always get a real tree.  We always decorate the tree too, the minute we get home.  It is a family tradition.  We also put cookies out for Santa.

~ About the Project ~

Project Author: Pam Jimison
pamj@capchrist.org

Project Begin & End Dates: 9/01/03 to 11/30/03

Pam Jimison's Class: Our objective is to learn about Christmas traditions around the world and compare them to our traditions. We hope to learn about family, community, and country traditions. Our desired outcome is to prepare a Christmas Traditions class book that will be shared
via email and our web site.

Participating Classes: Students will write about their favorite Christmas traditions (1 typed page maximum). They may include recipes and pictures.   Consider the following when writing:

* Do you have traditions specific to your family? What do you look forward to the most?
* How does your city participate? Does your city decorate in a special way? Do you have traditions within your hometown?
* What traditions are specific to your country?

Classrooms may submit their top 5 entries per classroom. Information must be sent via email (cut and paste into email) or as a Word document.
