Teaching Writing With Touchstone Books

A Collaborative Literacy Project

~ About the Project ~

Calling all K - 4 writing teachers!

Here's a chance to share your favorite selection of children's literature used to introduce a writing mini-lesson.  All you have to do to participate is send in the name of a book you absolutely love that is an example of a particular writer's craft.  Then include a brief explanation of your mini-lesson and a sample of student writing that flowed from this lesson.

I will post all submissions on the project website and we'll have a great selection of books to use with future lessons!
Here's an example:  Patches Lost and Found by Steven Kroll.  I use the book to show story sequence or to show how to "write" with pictures first, then words.  Visit my Touchstone Books page to see more examples.
