Aloha, everyone. It's December 2002, so ... Mele Kalikimaka! This page has information and other web resources to help visitors learn more about the state of Hawaii. Special thanks to JoAnn Jacobs (Honolulu, Hawaii) and Carolyn & Kevin McGowan (Denver, Colorado) for their help, since we live in New Jersey and have never had the good fortune to see this beautiful place! Please be patient while images load. Enjoy your visit! * Students: send us an email and wish us "Mele Kalikimaka" in English. |

Mrs. McGowan's 1st Grade Spring Lake NJ Santa in Hawaii Mele Kalikimaka - Merry Christmas! We read different versions of the Gingerbread Man, including The Musubi Man by Sandi Takayama. Our discussion led us to wonder about Christmas in Hawaii. We learned that families have their traditional cultural foods just as we do in New Jersey (thanks to JoAnn Jacobs for sharing this information). Then we began thinking about Santa and found the postcard and ornament websites. Some of the pictures show Santa in sandals and a bathing suit! Our class decided to create our own drawings of Santa in Hawaii. Please be patient while the pictures load and visit our Hawaii resources before leaving. Enjoy! |
