Communities Connecting
October 2003 - February 2004

*  Project no longer active - following information available
on this page as a resource.

Project Coordinator Mrs. Terry Stoufer

Terry Stoufer has a 2nd grade in Florida. She used email and eboard.com posting for this project. Participating classes contributed the following information about their communities:

* average hi temp
* average low temp
* total precipitation
* average daylight

Suggestion: Terry's previous class made it a weekly classroom job for two students to do. They easily accessed the web and logged their data in a weather journal each day. The class met weekly to find averages and post  data to the project page.

Weekly Question  About Our Community:
Terry posted a question for classes to answer about their community. This provided an opportunity to compare  communities.  Possible questions were on: transportation, language, population, land forms, climate affects, and economics. The questions required only a brief answer.  Here are the first questions:

October 6-10 What types of transportation are available in your community?

October 13-17 What is the population of your town? Your county? Your state?

October 20-24 What language/s are prominent in your community?

October 27-31 What type of activities do the people of your community participate in frequently during the summer? Fall? Winter? Spring?

November 3-7 What are some of the products your community provides? Your state provides?

November 10-14 What historical events occurred in your community/ and or state that was important to our country?

November 17-21 What are some animals and plants that are native to your community/ state?

November 24-28 week off for Thanksgiving

December 1-5 How has your community changed in the last 20 years?
