Many
different cultures have fairy tales and children's stories with similar themes. We'll be
reading some of these stories during the year. Versions of Little Red Riding Hood, The
Three Little Pigs, and The Gingerbread Boy are first grade favorites.
Luckily, Cinderella stories
also come in many versions! Classes participating in this Internet Project read a
particular Cinderella story and engage in a variety of extended learning activites related
to the story and Cinderella theme.
Our class shared John Steptoe's, Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters: An African Tale.
This beautifully illustrated Caldecott Award Honor book is one of several multicultural
stories to be read this year.
