"My name is Junie B. Jones. The B. stands for Beatrice, except I don't like Beatrice and that's all. My Kindergarten teacher's name was Mrs. She has another name, but I just like Mrs. and that's all."

Here she is! For the last few years, Junie B. has been our MOST favorite story character. We read lots of her books together, and one year the class started their own Junie B. Jones club. Both boys and girls love to hear what her new problem will be and the funny things she does to get herself out of trouble!

The children always know when Junie "talks funny" like using the word "bestest". They also know when she makes some poor choices like yelling or grabbbing or smacking someone. Her stories always have something that young graders can relate to - not being invited somewhere, having to wait a long time for something, taking things "literally", and problems with friends.

  • Let us know if your class did any other special activities related to the book.

  • Include your class website address if you have one.

  • Include your email address so other classes can write to you if they wish.

  • It's alright to select a book that another class has reviewed. Reviews will be posted on a webpage about that book.

A 2000-2001 Internet project was hosted by Sharon Hall. Writing Junie B. book reviews as a collaborative project is her idea - thanks, Sharon! PS: If you have made a webpage about Junie B. Jones and would like to have it listed here, please send your site address. Thanks!

Guidelines for Writing a Book Review:

  • A book review is both a description and an evaluation of a book.
  • Give your reader a taste of the plot, but don't give the surprises away.
  • Make sure your review explains how you feel about the book and why.
  • Describe the parts that you liked or disliked and tell why.
  • If you wish, you can tell how this book fits in with the other books in the series.
  • Can you recommend this book?
  • Remember, don't tell the ending!
