#25 Junie B. First Grader:
 Jingle Bells, Batman Smells
(PS. So Does May)

Ms. Noell's 1st Grade
2005 - 2006
University School
Johnson City, Tennessee

Hi! This nine weeks, we have a student teacher, Ms. Robyn, who has been working with our guiding reading group.  We have been doing a unit on Junie B. Jones books, and we thought this report would be the perfect way to end our unit and our work with Ms. Robyn.

During this unit, each of us read a different Junie B. book, and then we created a report cube.  We each took one side of the cube to write about our book.  We also completed a graphic organizer, comparing and contrasting characteristics of Junie B. with those of ourselves.  We wrote letters to Junie B., with suggestions of how to act more appropriately.  Then, we wrote a group story about Junie B. ourselves, complete with illustrations!  We found the activities on the official Junie B. website fun, as well.

Junie B. Jones 1st Grader Jingle Bells Batman Smells (P.S. So Does May) is our favorite Junie B. book.

Junie B. likes to change the words of "Jingle Bells" and so do we.  While Ms. Robyn read to our class, we all joined in!  In this book, Junie B. wants the Squeeze-a-Burp and crayons from the Holiday Gift Shop.  She has to not fight with May or they'll be parking themselves in Principal's office.  In this book, there were things like arguing and teasing and giving coal.

This is what we liked best about the book:

Clayton I like the Squeeze-a-Burp.
Estela:  I like that Junie B. learned her lessonl
Olivia:  What I like is when Junie B. and May fight and go to Principal's office.
Ari:  I like when Junie B. sings different words in the Sing-Along.
Leah:  I like the part about when May's about to tell on Junie B. and she covers her mouth.
Hannah:  I like when Junie B. sings different songs.  And that's all.  And when she says "B" and that's all.
Frankie:  I like the attitude of Junie B.
Devin:  I like the part where she says "Jingle Bells Batman Smells (P.S. So Does May).  I'd throw her off the sleigh and then I'd drive away."
