My Third Grade Reading Group read Junie B. Jones and The Mushy Gushy Valentine. Once they read the book they worked together and did a power point presentation about the book. It has the same information as below but in a different format.

Report

Junie B. is in kindergarten and this is her first Valentine Party. When the class finds out about it, they give Mrs. lots of strange party ideas like jugglers that juggle chain saws and melted milk balls for treats.

Each student has to bring a Valentine card for the others in their class. Everyone is supposed to get the same number of cards. There’s a huge box for all the cards to go in.

At party time, Mrs. hands out the cards to all the students.  Junie B. gets upset when she thinks she is short one card. However she has the biggest card of all in the bottom of the card box with no signature.

Now, Junie B. is determined to find out who her anonymous admirer is.

You’ll have to read the book to find out who gave Junie B. her Mushy Gushy Valentine Card!

Our favorite part is when Junie B. finds out who gave her the Mushy Gushy Valentine card. It’s not who you think it will be!

– Austin, Brianna & Tori

I had two favorite parts. One is the way that Junie B. talks. She says words wrong like Valentime, that Grace, ‘Cause, and Meanie Jim. The other was when she thought there was a meatball in the Valentine box, even though she thought real hard!

 – Christian

My favorite part is when Junie B. is jumping up and down in her chair because she is short one valentine. She wants to know who didn’t follow the rules!

– Lucas

Read this book and you’ll enjoy it as much as we did!

What we thought: We read a J.B.J. book about Valentine's Day. At the Valentine's Day party, Junie B. got a card from her secret admirer. She didn't know who sent it. It was funny when Junie B. blew a kiss at the wrong boy! At last, Junie B. found her secret admirer. How exciting! Here are some of our favorite parts:

Our second grade class absolutely loves Junie B. Jones books! We wrote a class book about all our favorite parts of Junie B. Jones and the Mushy Gushy Valentine because it is our favorite book so far.

We also wrote a book review in shared writing telling everyone why they should read it. Here it is:

george_14.jpg (22209 bytes)You should read, Junie B. Jones and the Mushy Gushy Valentine by Barbara Park, because it is really funny!

When we heard how Junie B. made room nine sparky we laughed super hard. Junie B. made us laugh when she tried to guess what was in the Valentine's box. There's a big twist at the end, but you'll have to read the story to find out who loves Junie B. as much as we do!

Hi! My students read Junie B. and the Mushy Gushy Valentine. They did many projects with the book, including keeping a journal and writing the author.

Junie B. is in kindergarten and her teacher is Mrs.  Jim and Junie B. were racing to see who could make their hearts the fastest. They got in trouble and Mrs. would not let them finish the box.
Junie B. is always getting into disagreements with her friends, but they make up at the end of the fights. The class is having a Valentine's Day party. Mrs. told the class that they had to bring everyone a Valentine, but Junie B. was missing one. Mrs. found Junie B.'s missing card, but it was from a secret admirer. You have to read the book to find out who the secret admirer was. Our whole class thinks you should read the book, because it will teach you about how not to always judge a book by it's cover. YOU MUST READ THE BOOK!

Here's an example of our journal entry:
