Fall Book:  Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf  by Lois Ehlert

After we read the book, we went on a leaf hunt around our school.  Our class poem was created from our observations.

When we see red and yellow leaves…
We go on a leaf hunt.
We jump in the leaves.
We catch them.
We feel happy.
We think of fall.
Fall is here! We love it!

We also filled out leaf observation worksheets.  We used magnifying glasses to look at our leaves.  We described how it looks (colors and size), then we described how we felt about the leaves, last we made leaf rubbings.

We also read books about scarecrows and pumpkins to go with our fall theme.  The Little Scarecrow Boy by Margaret Wise Brown, Scarecrow by Cynthia Rylant, Scarecrows by Felder Rushing, Pumpkin Circle by George Levenson & Shmuel Thaler.  After we read the books, we made cut-and-paste scarecrows (from TLC Fall book) and painted pumpkins to make a fall bulletin board.
