After
reading Fall is Here! I Love It ! we were
inspired to create a class sensory poem:
In the fall
We
see
colorful leaves floating gently down from the trees.
We
hear
trees blowing in the cool windy air.
We
taste
apple pie, warm and sweet.
We touch our rakes and rake the leaves into a pile.
We
smell
bales of hay on the farm.

Read our
individual poems
too!
To
integrate some math into the project, we also made scarecrow glyphs
to gather seasonal data about our class, such as favorite apple food
to taste and favorite fall activity.
Some of our favorite fall activities in our area of Massachusetts
include going to the Topsfield Fair in Topsfield, MA. We love
seeing the giant pumpkin winner. Some of us go to Haunted
Happenings in Salem, MA (Salem is known for its witch history.)
There are some frightfully fun activities there. Also, many of
us go apple and pumpkin picking at local farms.
But
the biggest fall event for us this year was cheering on our Boston
Red Sox in the World Series and finally “reversing the curse” after
86 years. We rewrote an alphabet book by the Red Sox Wives called
Fenway Park From A-Z. Our finished work can be seen here:
