Fall Leaves Change Colors by Kathleen Weidner Zoehfeld

Fall in Hawaii is quite different from fall in the Mainland.  Our Fall or Winter is known as “the rainy season” which lasts from November until March.  It is a seasonal change that we feel because we live here even though the temperature would be considered warm by most people.

We do have a local pumpkin farm and many families visit there to select their Halloween pumpkins.

Our poem tells what we would like to do if we ever had the chance.

    Fall Leaves

Red, orange, tan, yellow, purple and brown

Piles of fall leaves on the ground.

Jump in the piles and throw them in the air,

Fall leaves, fall leaves everywhere!

Activity:  We gathered tropical Hawaiian leaves and created fall leaf prints using yellow, red, orange and brown tempera paint.

Standards: Range: Read for enjoyment and to gain information.

Response: Interpret texts in a variety of ways.
