In
Southern California we really don’t get the fall changes that other
parts of the country get. However, through books, poetry, art
activities and some cooking, our class experienced fall.
We did an acrostic poem as a class, and each child wrote their own
acrostic poem. Here is our class poem: Fall
is good. Fall
is here! We love it! Each child brought in their favorite colored apple, we graphed the colors, then we cut the apples and tasted them, then we graphed our favorite tasting apple. We did real and representational graphs and finally we made applesauce with our apples.
Sliced apples and water to just cover the apples, ½ cup of sugar and cinnamon to taste. Cook in a slow cooker all day long. Stir occasionally, and serve during a fall movie such as Winnie the Pooh’s Blustery Day.
