Book:  Chipmunk at Hollow Tree Lane by Victoria Sherrow

We read many books about fall but this was one of our favorites.  It made us think about animals in Shelton during the fall season and what they might be doing.

We collected ideas in our Writer's Notebooks and then made a list of animals and strong verbs.

Then the students created  5 W poems which can be viewed on our website.

We also wrote and illustrated a class poem:

Here are two examples of student illustrations we displayed with our poem:

Class Poem:  Couplet

Fall is Here!  We Love It!

We love jumping in piles of leaves
Picking red apples off the trees

We love going on fun hayrides
Playing on our swings and slides

We love playing soccer on a team
And hearing cheerleaders scream

We love eating yummy pumpkin pie
Catching leaves falling from the sky

We love sweater days and jacket nights
And no more mosquito bites!

We love trick or treating in our town
Dressed up as a monster or a clown

We love going to football games
Or putting maple leaves in frames.

Fall is fun
For everyone!
