Fall Book:  Apples to Oregon by Deborah Hopkins
See other autumn books that we have read.

Our Kindergarten class built these scarecrows.

and wrote a class poem about fall:

"Sense" sational Fall
By  Mrs. Debbie Waters' Kindergarten Class

In Fall, we see our Monarch butterfly flutter away and our stuffed floppy scarecrow sitting proudly on the hay.
Fall is Here!  We Love It!

In Fall, we hear the Tweetsie train whistle blow and children laughing on a hayride that's bumpy and slow.
Fall is Here!  We Love It!

In Fall, we feel the cool wind blow on our face as we cross the finish line in the turkey trot race.
Fall is Here!  We Love It!

In Fall, we taste homemade apple butter on bread and crunchy cauliflower, broccoli, and bell pepper of red.
Fall is Here!  We Love It!

In Fall, we smell  yummy pumpkin pie cooking and the barnyard animals all stand looking.
Fall is Here!  We Love It!

  * You can listen to our poem too!

We visited the apple orchard and got to pick apples for our apple butter activity.

Apple Butter Recipe

First, choose five Red Delicious apples & five Golden Delicious apples.
Second, peel the apples, remove the core and seeds.
Third, chop the apples into tiny pieces.
Fourth, put the chopped apples in the crock pot.
Fifth, add 1/2 cup of vinegar and four cups of sugar.
Sixth, mix well, put the lid on the crock pot, and cook it all night on low heat.
Seventh, the next morning put the cooked apples in a blender and blend it.  Now, the apples should look like applesauce.
Eighth, put the applesauce back into the crock pot and add spices:  1/2 tsp. Allspice, 1/4 tsp. ground cloves, and 2 tsp. ground cinnamon.
Ninth, leave the lid off the crock pot and cook the apples on high heat for three hours.  When it is done, you will have apple butter.
Tenth, serve the apple butter on homemade biscuits made by Mr. Joe Rudisill.

YUM! YUM!  We love Fall apple butter!

Our class adopted this tree and it is located on our school grounds.  Using this tree, we observe the seasonal changes throughout the school year.

We have more photos in our photo gallery.
