We started off our project by reading Fall Is Here, I Love It by Elaine Good.   We continued to read other books on Fall. Our favorite was Pumpkin Soup by Elaine Good. Using these books as motivators we set out to write our own acrostic poems.  We used Print Shop to illustrate our poems.

Fields are harvested
Apples are picked
Lots of leaves on the ground
Lots of people trick-or-treating

Harvesting crops
Apples fall
Leaves are raked
Leaves change color
October
We can't wait until snow falls
Eating yummy pumpkin pie
End of summer
Nuts are stored by animals

Happy time
Apples
Leaves change
Leaves on flowers fall
Owls come out and scare
We have fun
Eat nuts
Everyone loves candy
Nuts fall

Our class poem was a bit more of a challenge.  We had a difficult time agreeing on the theme and the wording. After much work and discussions we came up with the following poem.

Fall is Here

Pumpkins in the fields waiting to be picked,
Leaves falling to the ground,
Waiting to be raked in piles for children to
Jump and hide.
Fall is Here, We Love it.

The smell of apple cider and apple pies baking,
Fill the kitchen with sweet smells.
Carmel apples be made with sprinkles,
are quite a treat.
Fall is Here, We Love it.

We thank God for the  blessings given to us,
Thanksgiving is the time for this.
Week after week the leaves disappear,
Signaling that Fall will  soon be gone for another year.
Fall is Here, We Love it.
