Before we did this project we read many books about apples and pumpkins. Some of our favorite fall books were Fresh Fall Leaves by Betsy Franco, Why Do Leaves Change Color? by Betsy Maestro, and Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf by Lois Ehlert.

Our favorite fall activity was Pumpkin Math We wrote a class poem on a big chart, and then everyone helped illustrate it.

 Here is our fall free verse poem:

Fall in Boardman

Fall Is Here! We Love It!

Colorful leaves blowing in the wind,
Leaves dropping on your head,
Picking apples and eating apple pie,
Jumping in leaf piles,
Eating pumpkin pie,
Birds chirping getting ready to fly south,
Picking out pumpkins to carve,
Trick-or-treaters,
Leaves crackling and crunching,
Turkey for Thanksgiving,
Frost on the ground.

Fall is here! We love it!

We also wrote individual senses poems. Here is one example:

In the Fall
By Katelyn

In the fall . . .
I see leaves dancing;
I hear birds singing;
I feel the wind blowing;
I taste yummy roasted seeds;
I smell pumpkin pie baking.
