We enjoyed watching the beautiful colors of spring appear in our schoolyard. The Chicago area experienced a bit of summertime weather (80 degrees) before returning to more spring-like weather.

After enjoying several books on spring, we wrote Important Poems about spring. Then we worked in cooperative groups to write our class poem Colorful Spring.

Colorful Spring

Blue is for the blue sky that I see in the spring.
Blue is for blue flowers that grow in the green grass.
Colorful spring!

Yellow is for beautiful daisies that grow in the garden.
Yellow is for the bright sun that shines in the sky.
Colorful spring!

Red is for roses that grow in the spring.
Red is for red robins that live in trees.
Colorful spring!

Pink is for nice, long carnations.
Pink is for beautiful, cute, nice daffodils in our yard.
Colorful spring!

Green is for the tall green grass.
Green is for the leaves on the trees.
Colorful spring!
