We had a student teacher
this semester who did a whole poetry unit with the Language Arts classes. We
chose the book Lost in the Woods by Carl Sams to read and guide us on our
journey to creating a colorful spring poem. After reading the story, we
brainstormed spring words from the book and from our community. As a class we
chose which type of poetry we would like to use and then created our poem. The
students really came up with some great poems. We hope you enjoy reading them!
Colorful Wonders of Spring
By: Mrs. Haughwout’s
1st Period L. Arts
Colorful bright birds and butterflies
Soaring through the big blue sky.
In the meadow flowers rise
The passion of the yellow sun so high.
Red, yellow, pink , and white
Tulips blooming for our delight.
The gentle breeze warms the air
To let us know that
Spring is here.

Magical Spring
By: Mrs. Haughwout’s
2nd Period L. Arts
Raindrops glow like pearls on forest leaves,
While squirrels play happily in the trees.
Springtime showers help green plants grow,
Wildly vivid colors of the rainbow show.
Yellow and orange butterflies fly so high,
Up against the warm blue sky.
Birds are singing a beautiful song,
While deer prance happily along.
We know that very soon,
Red, pink, and white flowers will bloom.
The first blossom of the spring,
Can be an amazing thing.

Spring Comes Fluttering
By: Mrs. Haughwout’s
3rd period L. Arts
Animals are beginning
to come out
White Dogwoods are starting to bloom
Spring comes fluttering through the sky
Like orange butterflies flying so high.
Red tulips are quietly blooming
Purple azaleas come out to play
While running in the cool spring breeze
The yellow pollen makes us all sneeze.
The blue birds sing so happily
Out of cocoons brown moths appear
They are stretching their sleepy wings
For spring is finally here.

The Joys of Spring
By: Mrs. Haughwout’s
4th Period L. Arts
Spring brings yellow sun
Precious purple and white tulips
Rainbow colors are everywhere
Innocent gray bunnies play happily
New flowers are blooming
Gentle breezes are blowing
