Favorite book: Bear Wants More
by Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman

My kindergartners and I brainstormed colorful signs of spring after taking a spring walk and sharing signs of spring they brought from home.  We used the ideas to write our class poem. We are so excited that spring is back so it is a welcome back love letter!  We call it:

Colorful Spring

  Welcome back,

  Red tulips,

  Yellow daffodils,

  Blue birds,

  White geese,

  Orange butterflies,

  Green leaves,

  Red cardinals,

  Purple lilacs,

  Pink and white flowers,

  Red ladybugs,

  Green caterpillars,

  Yellow and black bees,

  Brown baseball bats,

  Brown and red robins,

  White and brown bunnies,

  Rainbows,

  Green swing sets,

  Yellow sunshine,

  Gray clouds,

  Blue raindrops,

  Black and white soccer balls,

  Yellow kites,

  Brown nests,

  Blue skies,

  and gray pussy willows.

  Welcome back,

  We missed you !

We drew pictures to go with the poem and have both displayed on our door.

We read several books about spring but our favorite was Bear Wants More by Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman

We have many spring projects going including hatching chicken eggs! We just finished learning about seeds and have things sprouting all over our room.

We had fun making daffodils and learning a poem that the grandmother of one of our classmates taught us.

A little yellow cup.

A little yellow frill.
A little yellow star.
That's a daffodil.
